BIO

Born in South Dakota in 1983, David Amir was first exposed to music through film scores, Christian contemporary and the oldies station. In high school he formed a garage band as the drummer with some kids from the skate park. He began singing and writing songs in earnest in his early 20’s and was drawn into the depth of catharsis in the form. At 24, whilst living in Seattle, WA, he officially committed his life to the pursuit of music by quitting his day job and taking up street performing at Pike Place Market. With a dire commitment to independence and a conviction for the art, he continued street performing, eventually landing in Portland, OR where he has spent the last 9 years performing, writing and producing music.

David’s sound is built on the singer-songwriter tradition, overlayed with a love for pop music and film scores. As a vocalist, he blends the earnestness of folk story-telling with soul tones and a mystic’s penchant for improvising. Whether laid over lush production and cinematic colors or just a single guitar, the emotion and spirit lead the procession in David Amir’s music.
